StackGuard — Privacy Policy

StackGuard ("we", "us") is a Shopify app that lets merchants combine discount rules and apply a margin guardrail at checkout. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.

Data we access and store

• Store credentials. When you install the app, we store a Shopify access token and your shop domain so the app can operate on your behalf. This is kept in our database for as long as the app is installed.
• Store configuration. Your discount rules and settings are stored in your shop's metafields (hosted by Shopify). The app reads your products, collections, and discounts to provide its functionality.
• No customer personal data. StackGuard does not collect, store, or process the personal data of your customers (names, emails, addresses, or payment details).

How we use data

Data is used solely to provide the app's functionality — computing and applying discount rules and the margin guardrail at checkout. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing.

Subprocessors

• Render — application hosting (United States).
• Neon — database hosting for session storage (United States).
• Shopify — platform and data storage for your store configuration.

Data retention and deletion

When you uninstall the app, we delete your stored session credentials. We also honor Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks: shop/redact (removes your store's data after uninstall), customers/redact, and customers/data_request. Because we do not store customer personal data, customer redaction and data-request webhooks return no personal data.

Security

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access tokens are stored in our database and used only to make authorized Shopify API requests on your behalf.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
